Broadcaster Martell

June 2, 2014

Wizards G/F Martell Webster has been making the rounds this summer. Serving ice cream one day, doing sideline reporting for the Mystics the next.

Sunday, Webster made his broadcasting debut on the Mystics telecast as he joined Frank Hanrahan, Christy Winters Scott, and Jumoke Davis as a sideline reporter.

He provided analysis throughout the game and was able to listen in on many of Mike Thibault's huddles.

As he stated on the broadcast, he's a rookie in this industry, so we won't criticize him too harshly, but in all honesty he did a nice job with updates and gave some real insight on the game.

And he had quite a first game to report on as this was one of the more exciting games you'll ever see as the Mystics pulled out a triple-OT victory over the visiting L.A. Sparks.

Maybe once he's ready to call it a career in the NBA we'll see more of Webster in a broadcasting role.

Hopefully we'll get to see more of him on the Mystics sidelines this summer!

And in case you missed it earlier, Webster is also working part-time at a new Ice Cream shop called Nicecream Factory in Arlington, VA. Expect a video of Webster working at the shop soon on Monumental Network.
