From the NBA's release:
NEW YORK, April 26, 2014 - Washington Wizard's forward-center Nene has been suspended one game without pay for head-butting and grabbing guard-forward Jimmy Butler of the Chicago Bulls around the neck with both hands and attempting to throw him down, it was announced today by Rod Thorn, President, Basketball Operations.
The incident, in which Nene received two technical fouls and was ejected from the game, occurred with 8:28 remaining in the fourth quarter of the Wizards' 100-97 loss to the visiting Chicago Bulls last night at Verizon Center. Nene will serve his suspension tomorrow when the Wizards host Chicago.
The Wizards played 21 games without Nene in the final stretch of the season and went 12-9 without him in the lineup after he suffered a strained knee on February 23rd against Cleveland. He returned to play four of the final five games of the regular season.
Obviously this is a big blow to the Wizards front court as Nene is a huge piece to what the team does on both ends of the floor, but now it will be up to some of the other bigs like Trevor Booker, Drew Gooden, and Al Harrington to step up in his place in a critical Game 4.
We'll have more analysis with sound from some of the players on the Game 4 Gameday Blog later tonight.
Game 4 is set for Sunday at 1pm at Verizon Center.
